RESER conference 2010 in Gothenburg

Joint workshop of RESER and the European Commission, Brussels, 15th october, 2010

On the occasion of the 20th Anniversary of conferences by the European Association for REsearch on SERvices (RESER) a joint workshop with the European Commission under the title »Resilience of the Service Sector in the Current Economic Crisis« was held to explore whether service industries are equipped to better survive the current global economic crisis than other sectors of the economy. By invitation of the Ministry of Economic Affairs of Baden-Wurttemberg the workshop took place in the Premises of Representation of Baden-Württemberg to the European Union.

Fraunhofer IAO accompanied the organisation of the workshop. The successful cooperation with RESER, the Ministry of Economic Affairs of Baden-Wurttemberg and the German Ministry of Education and Research that had already shown for example in the allocation of the RESER conference 2008 was thereby renewed. Members of RESER who are also panel members in the MARS project stated their views on the current situation of service economy and research.

Metka Stare, president of RESER, Marie-Christine Monnoyer and Peter Daniels sketched the history of the RESER community from its beginnings until today and gave an outlook into the future. John Bryson presented a study on innovation performance (CIS), Luis Rubalcaba talked about the ServPPin project. Patrik Ström reported about the last RESER conference 2010 in Gothenburg, and Werner Wobbe offered an overview on the current research topics in the field of services from the point of view of the European Commission. Impressions from the workshop can be found in the following pictures.

RESER has published a press release on the workshop.
